Welcome to WASATCH HUNDESPORT
We are a full member club of the United Schutzhund Clubs of America, part of the Northwestern Region, located in Salt Lake City, Utah. We train in all three phases of Schutzhund: Tracking, Obedience, & Protection.
Our members come from varied professions, and are dedicated to promoting and preserving the true working temperament, character and conformation of our working breeds. We are committed to preserving the true spirit of the sport of Schutzhund, and we come together with a common interest and enjoyment in working with our dogs.
Schutzhund, meaning "Protection Dog" in German, is a dog sport that was created in Germany in the early 1900's to test the breed worthiness of the German Shepherd Dog. It was originally used to evaluate the working ability of the German Shepherd Dog only. However, today other breeds including Belgian Malinois, Rottweilers, Dobermans, Dutch Shepherds, Bouvier des Flandres, and even mixed breeds, compete in Schutzhund.
Schutzhund is intended to demonstrate a dog's intelligence and utility, and it measures their mental stability, endurance, structural efficiencies, ability to scent, willingness to work, courage and trainability. This working dog sport offers an opportunity for dog owners to train their dogs and compete with each other for recognition of both the handler's ability to train, and the dog's ability to perform. People of all ages, some with disabilities, and full families enjoy the sport of Schutzhund.
We train every Saturday, year round, in Davis County, Utah. In addition, we host several seminars and trials thoughout the year. Visitors are welcome to join us in training sessions. Non-members are required to pay a $10.00 fee, per dog for each session. New membership is granted, based on a majority vote of existing members.
